Our story

About Middle Man Movers

The reliable middle man who makes every move feel effortless — turning stressful transitions into smooth, story-worthy new beginnings for Nova Scotians.

Why we exist

We started with the jobs nobody else wanted

There's a gap in the moving business, and anyone who has ever bought a couch off Facebook Marketplace has fallen into it. The item is too big for your car and too small for a moving company to quote. The friend with the pickup truck has plans. The seller wants it gone by the weekend.

Middle Man Movers was built for exactly that gap — and then grew from it. We're the reliable middle man: the people between the seller and your living room, between the old apartment and the new one, between an empty house and a full one. Small moves are still our specialty and still what we're known for, but the same crew and the same careful approach handle apartments and full houses too.

We're Nova Scotians moving Nova Scotians, working within a 90-minute radius of Halifax. Every move we do is somebody's fresh start, and we've never thought that should feel like a chore you have to survive.

What we stand on

Four things we won't compromise on

Not a mission statement. Just the four things we'd want from a moving company if we were the ones hiring one.

Stress-Free & Approachable

Moving is stressful enough without a company that's hard to reach. Text us and you get a person, not a ticket number. Ask us the question you think is too small to bother us with — whether a dresser will fit, whether you need to be there for a pickup, whether you've booked far enough ahead. We'd rather over-explain than let you spend a week guessing.

Local & Reliable

We live here. We know which peninsula streets you can't park a truck on, which buildings make you book the service elevator, how long the bridge actually takes at five o'clock, and what a Nova Scotia driveway looks like in February. Local knowledge isn't a marketing line — it's the difference between an afternoon and a whole day.

Affordable & Flexible

Clear starting prices — $60 for small moves, $100 for apartments, from $100 for houses — and a quote based on what you're actually moving rather than a half-day minimum you don't need. If a smaller service will do your job, we'll tell you, even though it means a smaller invoice for us.

Careful & Efficient

Wrapped, strapped and stacked properly the first time. Speed matters — you're paying for our time — but fast work is only worth anything if everything arrives in the state it left. We plan the route through your stairwell before we start carrying, not halfway up it with a mattress.

Before you book

Plan your move about a month ahead

It's best to plan your move roughly a month in advance so you can secure the day and time you need. End-of-month dates and summer weekends go first right across Halifax — and if you're tied to a closing date or a lease turnover, earlier is always better. Smaller jobs can often be fit in on shorter notice, so it's worth asking either way.

What that looks like

The three ways people use us

Small moves — $60

Marketplace pickups and deliveries, storage runs, and taking away the furniture that isn't coming with you.

Apartment moves — $100

Bachelor through three-bedroom units, with the stairs, elevators and month-end timing that come with them.

House moves — from $100

Whole homes handled room by room, quoted on your actual house and scheduled around your closing date.

Questions

About us — common questions

Are you a big moving company?

No, and that's rather the point. We're a local Nova Scotia operation built around the jobs the large national companies price themselves out of. It means you deal with the same people from the first text to the last box.

What areas do you cover?

Anywhere within a 90-minute radius of Halifax, Nova Scotia — all of Halifax Regional Municipality plus towns further out like Truro. See our service areas for the detail.

How do I get a quote?

Text or call (902) 456-1925, email Quote@middlemanmovers.net, or use the quote form. A few photos of what's moving and both addresses is usually all we need.
