Halifax is where we do most of our work, and it's a genuinely awkward city to move in. The peninsula was laid out long before anyone imagined a 26-foot truck, so half the job is knowing where you can actually park one — which side of a one-way street, which permit zone needs a temporary sign, and which downtown buildings expect you at the loading dock rather than the front door.
That local knowledge is the difference between a move that takes an afternoon and one that eats the whole day. We've carried furniture up North End staircases that turn twice, waited out the elevator window in a Barrington Street tower, and squeezed a sectional into a South End flat that was subdivided out of a century home some time around 1970.

The peninsula runs on Facebook Marketplace. We collect the dresser from the North End and have it in your Quinpool apartment the same day — no borrowing a truck, no negotiating with a friend who owns one.
Apartment & room moves — $100
Bachelor flats off Agricola, two-bedrooms in Clayton Park, student places within walking distance of Dal and Saint Mary's. Stairs, tight landings and elevator bookings are normal here, and they're priced in from the start.
Full house moves — from $100
Downsizing out of a South End family home, or moving between neighbourhoods with a house's worth of furniture. We quote on your actual home and work around your closing date.

Neighbourhoods, housing and the moves we see most
The Halifax peninsula is dense, old and mostly walk-up. In the North End — around Agricola Street and the Hydrostone — you're looking at converted flats, narrow hallways and staircases that were built for people carrying a lot less than a queen mattress. The South End has the universities, which means the calendar rules everything: Dalhousie, Saint Mary's, King's and NSCAD all turn over their leases around the first of September and the first of May, and for a fortnight either side of those dates the whole neighbourhood is moving at once.
Downtown is a different problem again. The condo towers along Barrington and around the waterfront usually have a service elevator you have to book and a loading bay you have to be on time for. Miss the window and you're waiting until tomorrow — so we build the schedule around whatever slot your building gives you.
Off the peninsula, mainland Halifax is easier going. Clayton Park and Fairview are apartment-tower country, with proper parking and lifts, so a two-bedroom there moves faster than a one-bedroom on Agricola. Rockingham and Spryfield are more detached family homes with driveways and basements, which puts them closer to a full house move than an apartment one.

Halifax moving questions
Can you get a truck down peninsula streets?
Yes — it's most of what we do. The real constraint is parking rather than the street itself. If you're on a permit block or a narrow one-way, tell us the address when you ask for a quote and we'll sort out where the truck goes before moving day rather than circling on it.
Do you do student moves around September 1st?
Every year. Those two weeks around the first of September and the first of May are the busiest in the city, so book early — a month ahead if you can. Single-room moves out of a shared house are just as welcome as a full apartment.
My building requires an elevator booking. Can you work with that?
Yes. Book the slot with your building, tell us the window, and we'll plan the load around it. Downtown and Clayton Park towers are the ones that usually require it.
