Lower Sackville is roughly twenty-five minutes from downtown Halifax on Highway 102, and it has a very particular role in the region: it's where a great many people go when they stop renting in the city and start owning. That single fact shapes most of the moving work we do here.

Neighbourhoods, housing and the moves we see most
Sackville's housing is the most varied of anywhere we serve. Along and just off Sackville Drive you get apartment blocks and long rows of townhouses — straightforward moves with reasonable parking, usually one or two floors. Millwood and the streets around First Lake lean toward split-entry and two-storey family homes built from the seventies onward, which is the classic Nova Scotia first house: a few steps up to the front door, a few down to a finished basement.
Middle Sackville and the run out toward Beaver Bank and Lucasville get more spread out, with larger lots, longer driveways and the occasional mini-home park. Long driveways sound trivial until moving day, when every trip from the door to the truck is forty metres instead of eight — it's the kind of thing we'd rather know about before we quote.
The move we do most here is the graduation from renting. Someone has spent a few years in a Halifax or Dartmouth apartment, saved a deposit, and bought in Sackville because it's the closest place to the city where that's realistic. They arrive with an apartment's worth of furniture and a lot of empty rooms.
The reverse happens too — families moving further out to Beaver Bank for more land, and older residents downsizing back toward the Sackville Drive corridor to be near the shops and the bus routes.
